[Character] It is white acicular crystal with relative density of 3.48. mp 840°C. It is soluble in hot water, insoluble in aqueous ammonia, stable in air, nonhygroscopic. It losses no weight on heating. Its crystal is relatively hard. It is toxic! 
[Uses] It is used as raw material for metallic zirconium and its compounds, for making Mg-Al alloy. It is also used to produce electrical equipment materials, fire-risistant materials, electrical vacuum technique materials, ceramics and glass etc.
